It's hard to believe the year is over.
We are currently scheduling mid-year maintenance for our
clients. If you have done this in previous years, contact us to schedule.
For those of you that are asking yourself, what is year end maintenance?
This is a service we provide to clean up your system so you can start the
new year with confidence.
Here is a list of tasks that we will complete:
- Search your system
for spy-ware and ad-ware and remove it(this is a system killer. a
new PC can be crippled with a single spy-ware application)
- Insure that your
virus protection is up to date and that your version/subscription
is current
- Move 2010 emails to
a separate email storage file. Your emails will still be visible
in outlook or whatever email client you use. It will also keep your
system cleaner and allow you to protect yourself from corrupting your
email if you happen to hit the 2GB size. (Call if you have questions
about this)
- Create a backup of
your emails and give them to you on CD or DVD and/or store them
in our vault.
- Create a backup of
all your documents - We will create an archive of "my
documents" and give them to you on CD or DVD and/or store them in
our vault.
- Quickbooks/Accounting backup - We will create a
backup of your 2010/2011 quickbooks or other
accounting software. This allows you to start each year clean. It also
allows you to have a backup of the year 2010/2011. This may be
valuable for tax reasons and is easier to keep track of on a year to
year basis. Even if we backup your 2010/2011 files, you can continue
to build on that file for the next year.
- De-fragment and
verify hard drives. After a backup of your user data, we will
run a defragment of your hard drive. This
allows your system to run faster and will also allow us to check for
errors on your hard drives. This can warn us of upcoming drive
failures.
- Hardware Cleaning. Your computer will
be opened and cleaned out. Vacuumed and wiped down with electronic
cleaner. This allows us to verify the operation of CPU fans and Power
Supply fans. If these fans fail, you can experience system lockups,
hard drive failure, cpu
failure, etc. And believe it or not. Your system will actually run
faster if it is cleaner. This is because of increased air flow across
your computer chips, which make the system run at its optimal speed.
